Update...

We just received notice yesterday that our APP 1 has been approved by Dillon International and we are moving forward with the adoption... It will be a long process but we are already starting to get things ready for our little girl. With all of the little projects we have going on in the house (not to mention paper work), it should help make the time go by faster. Even though we are a ways out from getting a referral for our little one, we have chosen to name her already. I'm told that the Indian government recommends adoptive parents give their child a Hindu name... our daughter's name will be... MALINA ZAHRA ALSWORTH... we will use whatever her given name is at birth as a second middle name. "Malina Zahra" means dark and beautiful in Hindu. Please continue to pray for our family and Malina as we move through the long process.

It was great to talk to you today! Congrats on your app 1 approval and I love your daughter's name! Where did you read that about the Indian gov requiring hindi names? I hadn't heard that. Guess I'm ok either way though... :) Love your new site!!!

There is a lady in my town that adopted 3 times from India and she told me that. It's possible that things have changed a bit, her youngest is 13 or 14 now. All of her children were only a couple of months old when they were brought to the US and she's not NRI. Wouldn't that be something?!

Hi Maggie - welcome to the roller coaster of int'l adoption! :) I wish you the best of luck! We are on our 2nd journey to adopting thru India with Dillon. Feel free to follow along our blog also.. www.greathopes.blogspot.com.
Here's hoping that 2008 will bring you together (or at least VERY close to being) with your daughter!
(btw, India doesn't require you to rename your child now w/an Indian name - but I had never heard that - interesting!)

Wonderful to have another blog to follow. We are on our way through the process for the second time. I'm getting ready to start on our dossier today. We already have a special needs child chosen. Hope your process goes quickly.
